We have been trying to write new emulator that will be able to run commercial games since first and only real DC emulator Chankast so far is stopped to develop. Demul. First, create a new text file your notepad, and write down the filepath of your Demul executable. Example:. 'D: Your Demul Directory Demul.exe'.
Now, put the following after it:.run=dc -image=D: Filepath Of Your Shenmue.cdi. So in the end, it should look something like:.
'D: Your Demul Directory Demul.exe' -run=dc -image=D: Filepath Of Your Shenmue.cdi. Now, Change the '.txt' extension of your file to '.bat'. Double-click it and see if Shenmue pops up directly through Demul. If so, awesome! Download a converter and change your BAT file to an EXE. Go to Steam, click 'Add a Non-Steam game', choose your newly-created.exe and click OK! NullDC.

You're gonna have to repeat the steps for each disc of the game. Now, if you want your Steam to look proper, check out so you can find yourself a banner for your game for it to look good on Big Picture mode. Also, a few of icons I made for the first Shenmue that you can use with Steam. PS: Having trouble emulating Shenmue? Check out this! NullDC works when run under Wine on Linux, and there's a good chance it will work on OSX too. Crossover (who fund Wine) may be an option too.
Demul won't work as it's D3D10/11 only, which Wine won't support until around November (and may be buggy and/or slow at first). Installing Windows using Bootcamp is another option and you'll be able to use Demul there as well. That will give you the best compatibility, but will require rebooting and maintaining an additional OS. Extending TheDalek's comment: LXDream probably isn't viable; it didn't work with Shenmue last time I checked and it struggles performance and compatibility wise. Reicast is also being ported to desktop machines and will be a good option in the future, but it's still under development.
I got a couple questions. How's the emulation quality/speed? I've been playing on NullDC and the speed is fantastic (60+ fps) but there's some issues with rendering. You can kind of see through Ryo's head and shadows sometimes look off. It's not that bad, it's probably about 95% perfect. Can you set up the controls as you want?
I've been playing with an Xbox 360 controller and being able to move and control the camera with the left and right analog sticks makes the game so much nicer. I currently use Xpadder with nullDC. Do the emulated games in Shenmue work? Pino aprile terroni ebook readers.
