So I searched and found af neogeo.zip and put it directly in this folder: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-mame4all. But I must be doing something wrong. @SteffenMB The neogeo.zip is the bios pack and it goes directly to the rom folder where the other roms are. Seems that your romset is missing some files.

So I started from scratch after getting back in to MAME from years ago. Downloaded a full.164 from pleasuredome. Downloaded MAME.164 64-bit and also MAMEUI. I can't get NEO-GEO roms to work. Error is simply 'none: invalid bios'. Now if I rename the neo-geo.zip file, it will actually list which rom files are missing which makes sense. But with the file name correct, it doesn't say what's missing.
I downloaded another older neo-geo.zip file I found on another site from an older romset and I get the same error. If I search for just that exact error, I get one link that leads to someone with the same issue who doesn't seem to have resolved it.
