Well, the game is finished, and you -can- see a difference between the original version and this translation. Unfortunately, there seem to be a few context errors spelling and such. It’s not too much of a problem. The new text really helps make sense out of the story (which was barely there to begin with). There are two patches: One keeps the original game’s Engrish used in some weapon names, and the other corrects these errors. Also, do NOT use the Metal Gear rom that is recognized as such by Cowering’s GoodMSX.
According to the readme, this is a bad dump. So you’re supposed to use another version, but who knows which one. ROM / ISO Information.

There's an emulator called blueMSX, use that. I won't give you links to the actual ROMs just in case that won't fly with the mods, but the translation. Get a rom (I think they're on emuparadise) and a program called LunarIPS. Put the translation file and the rom in the same folder.

Considering the original was out on MSX and MSX2, and only in Japan, plus the production of MSX/MSX2 stopped in 1995, you can classify those games as Abandonware. Abandonware is a product, typically software, ignored by its owner and manufacturer, and for which no product support is available. Although such software is usually still under copyright, the owner may not be tracking or enforcing copyright violations. So, I doubt it is a problem. If we are talking about PS2 games with the port there, that is a different story, but when it comes to the original MG and MG2:SS, you cant really classify that as piracy.
